Individual, Marriage and Family Counseling
There are many issues that impact our personal, marital, and family lives; inability to establish or maintain relationships, infidelity, anxiety, depression, sexual issues, anger management issues, behavior problems, school problems, bullying, substance abuse, domestic violence…the list goes on and on. Assessment and counseling by trained and experienced professionals can promote successful resolution of issues that create stress and discord in a person’s life, marriage, or family.
Divorce Adjustment Counseling
The adjustment to the break up of a marriage is often difficult not only for the marital couple but their children and extended families. Divorce adjustment counseling is aimed at helping couples minimize the negative impact of divorce and promoting a healthy adjustment to life after divorce.
Loss / Grief Counseling
Grieving is a natural process experienced by everyone, to varying degrees, in response to the loss of something important. We accept that death is followed by a grieving process but many do not recognize that various other kinds of loss are grieved also. We often mourn the loss of a job, status, or even of an ideal, just to mention a few. Counseling aids individuals and families in understanding and successfully moving through the grieving process.
Life Coaching
Similar to the coaching one may receive as part of an athletic team, Life Coaching is focused on helping individuals build, or improve upon, the skills needed to address the demand and issues of life and to draw on those skills in the future. Life Coaching is not “therapy”, in the formal sense of the word, but “mentoring” by a professional with the background, training, and life experience to guide skill development and growth.
Conflict Resolution / Mediation
Conflict is often so intense that those in conflict are unable to look objectively at the issues, identify options, or implement agreed upon solutions. Professional intervention by a third, objective, party often results in resolution of the conflict in a timely manner and without the involved parties feeling they have “lost”.
Custody Evaluation Reviews
Often a third party review of a formal custody evaluation, by a trained professional, will result in suggestions which can improve the outcome for all parties. An attorney representing one of the two opposing parties normally requests the review.
