Parenting Training
Whether the setting is an intact family, single parent family, or blended family there is one thing for certain; the challenges of parenting vary both by issue and magnitude. Age, personality, and temperament influence how children, and parents, react and adjust to all kinds of situations. Add in the variety of life stresses faced by parents on a day to day basis and it is little wonder effective parenting can be so demanding.
C. Ryan offers a variety of parenting programs and services aimed at addressing the challenges of parenthood using both group and individual formats. Our programs and services are educational in nature and are not covered by medical or mental health insurance plans. Whether a parent participates voluntarily or to satisfy a legal requirement our programs and services are designed to provide comprehensive coverage of the topic. Participants who meet attendance criteria are issued a certificate of completion. Please contact us for more details on individual program time frames and costs.
Anger Management
Anger is a normal human emotion which we all feel and express. It usually follows feelings of being annoyed, frustrated, irritated, or threatened in some way. Our anger may be expressed outwardly by shouting, yelling, swearing, throwing things, and can escalate into physical aggression toward objects or people. When anger becomes intense, or frequent, it can become harmful in many ways and can even lead to arrests and imprisonment.
Learning to “manage” ones anger allows an individual to understand the dynamics of anger, what triggers their anger, and how to take action to prevent anger from being expressed in inappropriate or harmful ways.
Our anger management programs and services are designed to be delivered in both a one-on-one or group format and can be custom designed to fit the need of a particular individual or group. Please contact us for additional information and program costs.
Batterers Program
If convicted of a domestic violence crime, the batterer may be required to participate in a Batterers Intervention Program. A Batterers Intervention Program is a psycho-educational group led by trained professionals. Our program session is two hours in duration and runs for 26 weeks. The Program is typically offered in a small group format but can be customized to accommodate individuals on a one-on-one basis. A fee is charged; however fees may be adjusted if financial need can be demonstrated. If an individual has been assigned a parole officer he/she may be able to provide information on available financial assistance.
Program participants learn to identify abusive behaviors, to react non-abusively and to communicate effectively with their partner. Batterers Intervention Programs differ from and are not replaceable by substance abuse treatments, mental health services, family/marital/couples or other counseling. Participants in the program are expected to follow through with the commitment and adhere to attendance policies. Participants are held accountable for their attendance, must be on time, and cannot miss a scheduled appointment or meeting. Contact us for information and program costs.
